BIRMINGHAM — Three suspects are in custody after an an alleged armed robbery at the Chace Lake Villas Apartment complex in Birmingham.
According to a release from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, 19-year-old Jaylin Ashford, 27-year-old Kontrell Crumpton and 30-year-old Victoria Crumpton were arrested on Tuesday, May 18 in connection to an April 21 robbery.
The trio faces first-degree robbery charges. Police say two other suspects are are also wanted.
According to the sheriff’s office, Ashford, Victoria Crumpton, Kontrell Crumpton and two others entered an apartment on Chace Lake Parkway on April 21, and confronted the victims inside with firearms. At gunpoint, the male victims were ordered to strip down to their undergarments while the suspects took valuables from them.
Police say Ashford knew the victims, as they had previously allowed him to stay at the apartment. It is believed that Ashford was upset about an earlier conversation with some of the victims regarding the living arrangements.
Authorities believe he left the apartment and returned with the other four suspects — three males and one female.
Ashford and Kontrell face a $266,000 bond, while Victoria’s bond is set at $149,000.
