TRUSSVILLE – The Trussville City Schools Board of Education invited several groups of students to be recognized for achievements during its regular meeting on Monday, May 17, 2021.
The following groups were introduced and honored for their success:
The Hewitt-Trussville Mountain Bike Team won the State Championship Race at Tannehill Historic State Park .
Seniors: Dominic Anderson, Grayson Davis, Michael Davis, Sam Lovin
Coaches: Rhonda Brittain, Walt Brittain, Frank Davis, Kirk Lovin, Kurt Kristensen
The HTHS Outdoor Track & Field Boys and Girls Teams placed second in 7A,
Athletes representing the team are: Jailah Loving, Amelia Brady, Sydney White, Nathan Knox, Ethan Womack and Tanveer Raza
Coaches are: Head Coach Tom Esslinger, David Dobbs, Jamey Curlee, Rachel Higginbotham, Mike Deibert, Jihan Loving, and April Howell
The 2020-2021 NASA HUNCH Culinary Challenge.
The theme this year was healthier comfort food. The students won 3rd place in the nation out of 67 teams. They will each receive $20,000 scholarships to attend Sullivan University.

The Central Alabama Regional Science and Engineering Fair 2021 Winners
Eli Muncher and Drew McDowell (Brake Light Notification System) 1st Place
Eli and Drew received CARSEF Top Honors Senior Division and 1st Place in the Energy and Transportation category for their brake light notification system. Eli and Drew automatically advanced to the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair where they presented their design to several groups of judges
Morgan Dotson and Kenny Nguyen (PATH ADHD Detection Game)- 1st Place
Morgan and Kenny received 1st Place in the Behavioral and Social Science category at the Central Alabama and Regional Science Fair. They also won 1st place in their category at the Alabama State Science Fair.
Will Diggs, Hayley Page, and Ryne McGuyer (Firefighter Heat Alert System)-1st Place
Their invention received 1st Place in the Physical Science category for their fireman alert system at the Central Alabama Regional Science Fair.
Jacob Jones, Noah Renda, and Kellen Rutherford (Auto Ears Driver Notification System) – 3rd Place in the Energy and Transportation category for their deaf driver notification system at the Central Alabama and Regional Science Fair.
Reagan Felts and Kaylee Rivas (Hot Paws Sidewalk temperature dog leash)- They were just named one of the top three finalists in the nation for their design in the Thomas Edison Pitch Contest. They now will present their design in the finalist rounds of the competition. They also received 3rd Place in the Engineering category for their pet leash that reads the asphalt and sidewalk temperature at the Central Alabama and Regional Science Fair.
Biomedical Science Academy Winners
Michael Davis placed 4th in Epidemiology and qualified for the International Leadership Conference.
