FAIRFIELD — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a man in connection to an early-morning Memorial Day shooting near Western Hills Mall.
Sgt. Joni Money said a deputy was patrolling the area near Western Hills Mall, around 1:20 a.m., when he heard multiple gunshots. The deputy then saw a vehicle leave the roadway, strike a tree and come to a rest near the 7200 block of Aaron Aronov Drive.
When the deputy got to the vehicle, he found that two people inside the vehicle had been shot. A 35-year-old woman and a 26-year old man were transported by ambulance to UAB Hospital. The man had life-threatening injuries and the woman’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
Porch was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on bonds totaling $135,000.
