AUBURN — Hewitt-Trussville baseball alum Tyler Mauldin has announced his plans.
The former first-team all-state selection and Class of 2020 graduate played his freshman season at Snead State Community College last season. On Sunday, Mauldin took to Twitter to announce his commitment to Auburn University.
“After lots of thought and prayer, I have decided to further my academic and athletic career at Auburn University after I finish playing at Snead State,” posted Mauldin. “I would like to thank God for blessing me with this wonderful opportunity and my friends and family for helping me along this journey. Thank you to my teammates and coaches at Snead for pushing me every day. Lastly, thank you to the Auburn baseball staff for giving me this opportunity. War Damn Eagle!”
Mauldin played in 25 games for the Parsons last season as a freshman, resulting in 19 hits, 15 walks, 11 RBIs and a .306 batting average. He also recorded 27 put outs and posted a .918 fielding percentage.
Snead State finished 2021 with a record of 35-15. Auburn went 25-27 last season with a Southeastern Conference mark of 10-20.
