DEKALB COUNTY — A Fort Payne woman has been charged with driving under the influence after crashing her vehicle into a Dekalb County ambulance building.
The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 3:25 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, according to a report from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).
Melanie Dawn Ervin, 47, was charged with driving under the influence when the 2016 Ford Escape she was driving failed to stop at the sign, left the roadway, and struck the ambulance building. Police say the crash occurred on U.S. 11 near Alabama 117 at the 240 mile-marker.
Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
