ROEBUCK — Multiple agencies worked to recover $200,000 in stolen vehicles after a high-speed chase and crash in Jefferson County.
The investigation began after troopers attempted to stop a 2016 Dodge Challenger Hellcat on Interstate 59, near the Roebuck Parkway exit. The driver refused to stop, leading troopers on a chase. The driver lost control of the vehicle, struck a curve and fled on foot.
It was discovered the vehicle and two other vehicles had been stolen from a dealership in Georgia. Troopers in conjunction with ALEA’s SBI and officers from the Perry Police Department in Georgia were able to locate the two additional stolen vehicles within the Ross Bridge community in Hoover.
The driver has not been identified.
