Junior quarterback A.J. Wallace led the offense throwing for 108 yards on 8 of 16 attempts through the air for a touchdown.
“That’s where we want to get to, we’re just not quite there yet, and I’m proud of our team,” Moody head coach Adam Wallace said. “I’m proud of our community for coming out, and we’ll be here next week ready to put it on the line against Lincoln.”
Blaine Burke powered the running game, going for 42 yards on 6 carries, while Davion Dozier hauled in 3 catches for 62 yards and scoring once, and Kolby Seymour snatched 4 balls for 66 yards.
“I feel like we could be more physical and not get down on ourselves like as soon as they score,” Burke said. “But I mean, they were a good team.”
The Blue Devils were first to score, but the Cubs responded quickly, putting pressure against Moody and shutting down their offense.
“I feel like we could have worked better as a team,” Burke said. “Everybody was arguing, getting down ourselves.”
Moody struggled to move the ball down the field, hitting an Alexandria wall on many occasions. The Blue Devils found no mercy when it came to the penalties that were called throughout the night.
“We have no control over that, so they call what they see, and we noticed the out of our controls, we can’t worry about,” Wallace said.
Next week, the Blue Devils are on the road as they travel to Lincoln to battle the Golden Bears.
