TRUSSVILLE — Greg Carroll of the Trussville Rotary Daybreak Club presented a program at the new Springville Area Satellite Club meeting. Greg is also very active with the Trussville Downtown Merchants Association. In addition, Greg is passionate about shopping local and shared statistics that are relevant in just about any community.
For example, if you spend $100 at a locally-owned business, $68 stays in your community. If you spend the same amount at a non-locally-owned business, only $43 stays in your community. The money that stays pays the employees and is also invested in schools, police, fire, and sometimes donations to local organizations. Greg challenged the group to shift 10% of their spending to locally-owned businesses.
The Rotary International is a global network of 1.2 million business, professional, and community leaders and whose motto is ‘Service above Self.’ For more information on the new Springville Area Rotary Club, please contact Diane Poole at dianepoole1225@centurytel.net.
