TRUSSVILLE — The I-59 Northbound lanes have been reopened after a fatal accident Thursday morning.
According to Trussville Police Department, the wreck is a major vehicle collision at the 141 mile-marker shut down the I-59 Northbound.
“It is still under investigation,” Lieutenant Clint Riner said. “That stretch between the 141 and the 143 will be shut down for an unknown amount of time.”
The crash involved two vehicles, a garbage truck and a pickup truck resulting in a fatality confirmed by Cheif Eric Rush.
“The wreck happened because of the paving near Deerfoot,” Rush said.
“It is still under investigation, but injuries are involved,” Riner said. “That stretch between the 141 and the 143 will be shut down for an unknown amount of time.”
Trussville Police and fire are on the scene of the accident.
“ASAP should be coming up there to help divert traffic, so we’re going to try to get everybody to either avoid the area or exit at Chalkville and go around to Deerfoot Parkway,” Riner said.
