TRUSSVILLE — Two local artists, Caleb Calhoun and Laura Secord, are partnering with Ferus Artisan Ales, located at 101 Beech Street in Trussville, to host a night of poetry and ales. The event will take place live on Thursday, January 27, from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The event is free to people 18 and older.
The event, “Untethered: Stories and Poems,” will be hosted by Calhoun and Secord and features several local poets and storytellers. Artists slated to perform at Ferus Artisan Ales include Calhoun, Salaam Green, Karima Moor, Secord, Lee Smith, and Imani Williams.
“Laura and I are thankful for Ferus Artisan Ales’s partnership with us in hosting this event,” Calhoun said. “We really wanted an opportunity to showcase the talent in the community, and Ferus has the perfect atmosphere.”
“We invited local poets and storytellers as well as reached out to others in the community to submit their work for this event,” Calhoun said. “There will be around six (6) to eight (8) performers who will share stories and be given ten minutes to perform.”
Untethered: Stories and Poems is a free event and will continue each month.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to bring people together from different backgrounds to entertain and inspire,” Secord said.
