PINSON — The Alabama High School Athletic Association’s Sub-Regional basketball games take place this week, featuring several area teams.
In 6A boys’ competition, No. 2-ranked Pinson Valley hosts Hartselle at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 15, while Clay-Chalkville travels to take on No. 9 Cullman at the same time. The winner of the Pinson Valley-Hartselle game will face the winner of the Clay-Chalkville game on Friday, February 18.
Springville is on the road on Tuesday, facing off against No. 3-ranked Huffman at 6 p.m. If the Tigers win that matchup, they’ll face the winner of Homewood vs. Jasper.
In 5A, three area boys’ teams are still playing ball at this stage of the playoffs.
Leeds makes the short trip to Moody on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The winner of that game will play the winner of Guntersville vs. Douglas. Center Point, which has had two state runner-up finishes in the past three years, will play Fairfield on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Girls
In 7A, Hewitt-Trussville travels to Harvest to take on sixth-ranked Sparkman on Wednesday, February 16, at noon. If the Huskies win that one, they’ll get the winner of Vestavia Hills vs. Huntsville, which could potentially set up a fourth game between Hewitt and Vestavia.
In 6A, Clay-Chalkville travels to No. 3 Hartselle on Monday, February 14, at 6 p.m. Win that one and the Lady Cougars would face the winner of Hazel Green vs. Fort Payne.
In 5A, Center Point hosts Wenonah on Monday at 6 p.m. If the Lady Eagles win that game, they’ll face the winner of Lee vs. West Point.
Moody hosts Carver-Birmingham at 6 p.m. on Monday as well. If the Blue Devils win, they’ll face the winner of Guntersville vs. Douglas.
