CULLMAN COUNTY — A three-vehicle crash has claimed the lives of two women on Monday, February 14, at approximately 7:35 a.m.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Carol Janine Pope, 56, of Vinemont, was fatally injured when the 2019 Chevy Malibu she was driving traveled into the opposite lanes of travel. Pope’s vehicle then struck a 2006 Mazda 6I before colliding head-on with a 2017 Hyundai Tucson driven by Sarah Elizabeth Onks, 26, of Hartselle.
Pope and Onks were pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Mazda was not injured.
The crash occurred on U.S. 31 near Cullman County 1282, approximately three miles north of Vinemont.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
