CLAY — A key piece of Clay-Chalkville’s state championship coaching staff is heading to a rival school.
Brad Easley, who served as the Cougars’ offensive coordinator, will join Mountain Brook as the Spartans’ quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator.
“Excited to be a part of the Mtn Brook family,” Easley announced on Twitter. “A big thank you to Coach Gilmer and (Michael Lee) for my time at Clay. Was treated extremely well & am beyond appreciative!”
The loss will be felt by the Clay-Chalkville football program and the school overall.
“Hate to lose Coach Easley but you’ve got to make moves that are best for your family,” Clay-Chalkville principal Michale Lee stated on Twitter. “(Mountain Brook) is getting a great young coach but an even better man.”
Easley joins a very good Spartan program that finished with only two losses in the 2021 campaign, both to eventual state champions. Mountain Brook finished 12-2, falling 51-0 to 7A powerhouse and reigning state champion Thompson, and then dropping a very close one in the semifinals of the 6A playoffs against Clay-Chalkville, 24-18.
