TRUSSVILLE — A Paine Elementary School teacher is a 2022 Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) “Sweet Sixteen” finalist for Alabama Teacher of the Year.
Shayna Swann is one 16 that excels in the classroom and inspires students through mentorship. The Alabama Teacher of the Year Program is one of our state’s oldest and most esteemed awards programs.
The 2022-2023 Alabama Teacher of the Year will be announced by the Alabama State Board of Education and Alabama State Department of Education in May.
These 16 outstanding educators, selected as finalists for the Alabama 2022- 2023 Teacher of the Year, personify teaching excellence. T finalists have emerged from a highly professional group of more than 150 top educators who submitted their official applications for this state honor.

Johnson, said. “Each of these Alabama Teacher of the Year 16 Finalists truly exemplifies excellence and demonstrates outstanding classroom leadership. Alabama’s Teacher of the Year spends the majority of the school year serving as a full-time ambassador for education and the teaching profession, as well as presenting workshops to various groups.
This pool of outstanding educators will soon be narrowed down to the final Top Four.
