“This is a great way to spend some quality time with family and friends, as well as a chance to celebrate an important moment in the history of our city,” the chamber’s executive director June Mathews said. “Though Trussville’s roots were planted over 200 years ago, the incorporation in 1947 was the first formal step toward Trussville becoming the city it is today.”
In keeping with the 75th-anniversary theme of the event, the featured movie is a 1947 comedy, “The Egg and I,” starring Fred MacMurray and Claudette Colbert as a newlywed couple who become chicken farmers. The movie will begin at dusk.
Leading up to the movie, the festivities will feature music from the 1940s, Trussville historical displays (including one of the city’s antique fire trucks), games, and kids’ activities of the era provided by local churches and non-profit organizations, food trucks, prize drawings and more.
