William “Bill” R. Ellis, age 83, of Birmingham, Alabama, originally from Cartersville, Georgia, passed away on May 24, 2022.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Martha Brown Ellis. He was a loving father to Randall Joseph Ellis (Sharon) of Cartersville, Georgia, and Caroline Farris Ellis (Lee Ledbetter) of Birmingham, Alabama. He was most proud of his grandchildren, Galen Ledbetter (Nicci) of Iowa, Bailey Ledbetter Driver (Andy) of Columbiana, Alabama, and Alaina Gray Ellis of Cartersville, Georgia, as well as great-grandsons, Ezra, Emmett, and Eli Ledbetter.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Thomas Farris Ellis and Estus Bailey Ellis, of Cartersville, Georgia, bother Roger Ellis, of Great Falls, Montana, and sister, Charlotte Ellis Williams, of Cartersville, Georgia.
Bill was a graduate of Cartersville High School, Cartersville, Georgia, and received an Associates Degree in Engineering from Southern Technical Institute, Marietta, Georgia. He served in the U.S. Army as an artillery specialist.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Hodges Room at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Birmingham, Alabama, on June 23, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation to follow. Chaplain Tiffany Vincent will officiate.
Memorial donations can be made in Bill’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
