Sarah Nan Horne King, 93, of Pinson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.
Sarah was born in Guntersville, on March 2, 1929 to parents Beulah Mae Mayhall Horne and John Percy Hildan Horne.
Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, G. Reuben King; her daughter and son-in-law Pamela Gail King Brown and James Bartley Brown, Sr.; her grandson James Bartley Brown, Jr.; her grandson Daniel Watson; and her sister Louise Horne Whitaker.
She is survived by her sister Hilda Horne Stutzman (H.L.) of Huntsville; daughter Glenda King Watson (Dave) of Pelham; son David King (Jean) of Huntsville; grandchildren Gabe Watson (Kim), Michael Watson, Olivia King (Gennadiy Gurevich), and Benjamin King (Kayce); and great-grandchildren Diane Watson and David Watson.
Sarah retired from the Birmingham City School System with 19 years of service, having served as Lunchroom Manager at Robert C. Arthur Elementary School from the day the school opened until her retirement. Sarah loved the Lord and was active in her church at West End Highlands Baptist (Birmingham), Pioneer Baptist (Center Point), and First Baptist Pinson. Sarah will be remembered for her playful wit and for being loving, kind, sensitive, and gracious throughout her life.
Visitation for Sarah will be held Saturday, June 4, from 11:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville, Alabama, followed by a graveside service in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East at 12:00 p.m., Craig Greer officiating.
