LAWRENCE COUNTY —A two-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Russellville teen on Saturday, July 2, at approximately 10:50 p.m.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the crash occurred when the 2018 Toyota Corolla in which the 17-year-old was a passenger struck a 2017 Ford F150 driven by an 18-year-old Town Creek resident.
The 17-year-old was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, Samuel Matias-Francisco, 20, of Russellville, another juvenile passenger, and the driver of the Ford were all transported to area hospitals for treatment.
The crash occurred on Alabama 24 near the 43-mile marker, approximately eight miles west of Moulton, in Lawrence County.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
