TRUSSVILLE — The Hewitt-Trussville and Leeds volleyball teams won their opening matches in the 2022 season Thursday, August 18.
The Huskies defeated Springville, 25-13 and 25-20 in the opening match, then faced off against Altamont in their second match of the afternoon.
Hewitt-Trussville won that one, also, winning the match two games to one.
The Huskies move to 2-0 on the very early season, with their next appearance Saturday at the Hayden High School invitational.
There, Hewitt-Trussville plays Oneonta at 8 a.m., followed by matches against Sylvania at noon and Altamont again at 1 p.m. in pool play.
The Huskies are led this season by a strong senior class that includes libero Julianna Perez , Marley Camichael, Summer Cornelius, Abbie Kate Monski and Haley Wilkinson.
For Leeds, the Green Wave took three straight sets against Shades Valley on Thursday. Leeds won 25-18, 25-22 and 25-17.
Leeds seniors include Emma Grace Payne, Emma Richerzhagen, Sophie Sisk and Lillie Harrigan.
The Green Wave returns to action on Thursday, August 25 with a tri-match against Pell City and Cleburne County beginning at 5 p.m.
