BIRMINGHAM — A 20-year-old Bessemer man was killed in a shooting on Sunday, August 28, at approximately 8:45 p.m.
Birmingham Police officers arrived on the scene and entered an apartment complex parking lot when they observed two adult males lying unresponsive, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue (BFR) personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced Nord dead. BFR transported a second male to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
“The preliminary investigation suggests there was a large altercation in the parking lot when multiple individuals began firing at one another,” Officer Truman Fitzgerald stated in a press release. “Shot Spotter registered over twenty rounds fired. Currently, there is no one in custody.”
This is Birmingham’s 91 st murder investigation of 2022, including six justifiable death investigations.
