BIRMINGHAM — A 31-year-old man was killed during an apparent argument in Birmingham on Tuesday, September 6, at approximately 11:55 a.m.
According to the Birmingham Police Department (BPD), Corye Daniels, of Birmingham, was shot and killed in an apartment in the 1400 Block of 17th Street North in Birmingham.
North Precinct officers were dispatched to the apartment and immediately made contact with the person of interest.
“Officers took the person of interest into custody free of any incident,” Officer Truman Fitzgerald stated. “Officers then observed the victim lying unresponsive inside of an apartment.”
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced Daniels dead.
“The preliminary investigation suggests the victim and the person of interest were involved in an argument that led to shots being fired,” Fitzgerald stated. “BPD Homicide detectives at BPD Headquarters will interview the person of interest.”

This is Birmingham’s 99th murder investigation of 2022, including six justifiable death investigations.
