BIRMINGHAM – Skeleton remains were discovered in Birmingham after a dog was found playing with a human skull on Friday, Sept. 23, at approximately 10:10 a.m.
Reportedly, the dogs are known to roam a large, wooded area in the 300 block of Buffalo Street, between the Wylam and McDonald Chapel communities.
“It is unknown where the dogs first discovered the skull, and no other remains have been found at this time,” Chief Deputy Coroner William Yates stated. “The skull was found to be significantly weathered and most likely represents (a) death that occurred years prior to being found.”
The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the incident.
