BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department (BPD) has received a ruling in connection to the homicide investigation of Adarius Peterson that occurred on Thursday, September 29, at approximately 4:02 p.m.

Adarius Jamar Peterson, 29, of Birmingham, sustained gunshot wound injuries during a reported argument in the 2600 block of 5th Avenue South in Birmingham.
Peterson was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Following the assessment, the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office ruled the actions justifiable,” Officer Truman Fitzgerald stated. “This investigation is reclassified as a Justified Death Investigation.”
The Birmingham Police Department has 106 murders thus far in 2022, including seven justifiable death investigations.
