FAIRFIELD — The pedestrian who was struck and killed by a motor vehicle on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at approximately 9:51 p.m. has been identified.

Witnesses report that Simmons was walking in an unlit area of the roadway when she was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
“The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation,” Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Joni Money stated.
Simmons was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the circumstances surrounding the event, and the Coroner’s Office is attempting to positively identify the victim.
