HOOVER — The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) has identified the shooting suspect that injured a Hoover Police Officer on Sunday, Oct. 16, at approximately 11:25 a.m. At the request of the Hoover Police Department, Special Agents with the ALEA State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) are investigating an officer‐involved shooting involving an officer with the Hoover Police Department.
According to ALEA, Evan Rashad Lucas, 31, of Bessemer, was shot during the incident and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
A Hoover police officer was shot near an apartment complex on Lorna Road. The unnamed officer was injured in a shooting at The Hill of Hoover Apartments and was treated for his injuries at UAB Hospital. The officer was shot in the arm and has already been released from the hospital.
Lucas was taken into custody, and charges will be forthcoming.
Nothing further is available as the investigation is ongoing. Once complete, the findings will be turned over to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office – Birmingham Division.
