JEFFERSON COUNTY — A 21-year-old man was found dead in a vehicle “riddled with bullet holes” in Jefferson County on Sunday, Nov. 6, around 9:30 p.m.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Kendall Jarrod Thornton Jr., of Sylvan Springs, was the driver and lone occupant of a motor vehicle traveling on Pinson Valley Parkway near the intersection of Cleage Drive when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.
Medical personnel pronounced Thornton dead at the scene.
“As the vehicle was being removed from the scene, it was discovered that the car was riddled with bullet holes,” Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Joni Money stated. “The investigation quickly turned to a possible homicide investigation.”
Detectives were dispatched to the scene and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
“At this time, it is unknown if the bullet holes were present before the crash occurred,” Money stated. “The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office will perform an investigation to determine the cause of death.”
