BESSEMER — A 27-year-old man was identified as the body found in a burning mobile home on Friday, Nov. 4, around 3:20 a.m.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Sebedeo Mendez Nunez, of Bessemer, was found to have sustained a gunshot wound injury during a reported assault in the 400 block of Weaver Drive in Bessemer.
“Eastern Valley Fire Department responded to a report of a mobile home fire within a mobile home community,” Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates stated. “Upon extinguishing the fire, first responders located the decedent inside the mobile home.”

Nunez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Yates stated that the death is being investigated as a homicide.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
