JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County Coroner, William Yates, is requesting the public’s assistance in locating the family of the following individuals.
Michael Wayne Hicks, 69, of Birmingham, died on November 8, 2o22, at 4:49 p.m. Hicks was found unresponsive inside his apartment by police performing a welfare check at the request of a concerned neighbor.
The coroner believes Hicks died a natural death, with no evidence of foul play or trauma. All attempts to locate the family have failed. In 2019, Hicks listed an address on Cooper Hill Road in Birmingham.
John George Brooks, 76, of Birmingham, was transported to the hospital for medical complications, where he later died as an inpatient on November 7, 2022, at 9:05 a.m.
Yates said the cause of death is natural causes. However, all attempts to identify and locate the family have failed. Brooks most current residence was in the 1300 block of 60th Street West in Birmingham, with a previous listed address in the 200 block of 34th Street South in Birmingham.
Danny Neil Slider, 72, of Leeds, was found unresponsive inside his residence by a concerned landlord performing a welfare check, on November 12, 2022, at 11:25 a.m. Yates said Slider died of natural causes.
All attempts to identify and locate the family have failed. Slider reportedly has a son, brother, and aunt living, but their names and whereabouts is unknown.
Bonnie Marie Elder, 61, of Birmingham, was a tenant at Northway Health and Rehabilitation and died on November 13, 2022, at 4 p.m. Yates said Elder died of natural causes.
All attempts to identify and locate the family have failed. In 2018, Elder listed an address in the 900 block of Jones Avenue in Oneonta.
