BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department (BPD) requests assistance from the public in obtaining information on a homicide that occurred on Saturday, April 30, 2022, which claimed the life of 30-year-old Jonathan Edmond.
According to the BPD, at approximately 11:20 a.m., West Precinct officers were dispatched to the 700 block of New Hill Avenue on a report of a person down.

“Officers arrived on the scene when they observed the victim lying unresponsive near the roadway suffering from an apparent gunshot wound,” Officer Truman Fitzgerald stated.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced Edmond dead.
