JEFFERSON COUNTY — A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Hanceville man on Tuesday, Dec. 20, at approximately 12:08 p.m.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Joseph S. Varner, 40, was fatally injured when the 1996 Toyota 4 Runner he was driving left the roadway, struck a tree then overturned.
Varner was transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The crash occurred on Interstate 65 near the 283-mile marker, approximately one mile south of Hayden, in Jefferson County.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
