BESSEMER – The Jefferson County Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Office is requesting the assistance of the public in locating family of the following decedent who recently died in Jefferson County.
Bobby Ray Bradley, 69, was found unresponsive on his bed in an open style dormitory at the William Donaldson Correctional Facility on March 4, 2023.
“The decedent was an inmate at William Donaldson Correctional Facility serving a life sentence for sodomy 1st degree from a 1989 conviction out of Calhoun County,” Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said. “The decedent was currently being treated for multiple medical ailments and the death is believed to be of natural causes. An examination performed on 3/5/2023 found no evidence of trauma or foul play associated with the death, with the cause of death pending additional laboratory studies. The Alabama Department of Correction – Law Enforcement Services Division is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.”
All attempts to identify and locate family have failed. According to a friend, the decedent’s family is from Piedmont, Alabama. The decedent reportedly has a son, Dewayne Bradley, but his whereabouts is unknown. The decedent’s mother, Bertie Bradley, died more than 10 years ago.
