BLOUNT COUNTY — Blount County Sheriff Mark Moon announced Friday that Daniel Kelsoe, 29, of Blountsville, had been charged with two counts of custodial sexual contact with female inmates.
According to Moon, the investigation followed a tip from an inmate. Under Alabama law, an inmate cannot give consent to having sex with a guard. During the investigation, officers became aware of a second victim.
Moon said that Kelsoe confessed to the offenses during a second interview and while investigators were gathering forensic evidence in the case.
Kelsoe has been fired from the department and is being held in an outside facility.
