BIRMINGHAM – The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified a man who was struck Wednesday on Interstate 59 South before the Roebuck Parkway exit in Birmingham at approximately 11 p.m.

According to Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates, Johnathan Christian Hamff, 45, of Birmingham, “was a pedestrian walking on the shoulder of Interstate 59 South, when struck by a motor vehicle that fled the scene after the collision.”
Hamff was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The circumstances of the death are being investigated by the Birmingham Police Department.
