MOUNTAIN BROOK-The Hewitt Huskies came away from the Mountain Brook Invitational with a second-place finish in the Men’s Division, a third-place finish in the Women’s Division, and a lack of sleep. The last event of the opening night of the two-day meet didn’t end until 1:30 AM Saturday.
The Huskies continue to compete against quality teams each week as they march to Gulf Shores for the State Championship meet. The Mountain Brook Invitational showcased 34 men’s teams and 32 women’s teams from across the state.
“With this being our first two-day meet of the outdoor season, I am really happy with how we responded to the length of the meet, a really late Friday night, and cooler conditions on Friday night, said Hewitt head coach Tom Esslinger.
“We had some ups and downs over the course of the meet, but I think we had a lot more positives than negatives. We had a lot of personal bests, numerous top 3 finishes, and a couple of school records.”
