BIRMINGHAM — One man is dead and another was critically wounded in a Birmingham shooting on Sunday night, according to BPD officer Truman Fitzgerald.
“At around 10:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of Steiner Avenue Southwest on shots fired,” Fitzgerald said.
While in route, dispatchers updated the call to a person shot at the location.
Officers arrived on the scene and found an adult male lying in the roadway suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, Fitzgerald said.
The victim was transported to UAB Hospital by Birmingham Fire and Rescue. The victim had life-threatening injuries.
“While officers were in the early stages of investigating the scene on Steiner Avenue, they learned that an adult male gunshot victim showed up to Princeton Hospital by private vehicle,” Fitzgerald said. “Princeton Hospital staff pronounced the gunshot victim deceased. Currently, we believe both victims were connected to the same scene on Steiner Avenue.”
Fitzgerald said detectives were interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence to determine what took place on Sunday night.
There are no suspects in custody at this time as the investigation continues.
