FAIRFIELD — A 17-year-old Pinson girl was shot to death in Fairfield on Monday night, according to Lt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. It’s the second shooting death of a teen girl in Fairfield in the last 48 hours.
“Around 2:47 PM today, Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Overlook Place and Hillside Drive in Fairfield after receiving multiple calls that a person had been shot,” Money said. “Deputies arrived to find a 17-year-old female suffering from gunshot wounds.”
The victim was transported by medical personnel to UAB Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
“The victim was a passenger in a vehicle that was struck by gunfire,” Money said. “Another person received minor injuries during the incident.”
Jefferson County Sheriff’s detectives are conducting an investigation into the shooting.
