BIRMINGHAM — A Birmingham man was shot and killed by someone they knew on Wednesday, June 21, 2023.
At around 5:30 p.m., Birmingham police department (BPD) officers were dispatched to a call in the 100 block of 71st Street North.
Officers arrived on the scene and observed the victim, Tadarrien Griffin, 22, of Birmingham, lying unresponsive next to a vehicle.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased at 5:51 p.m.
Investigators determined a person of interest in this shooting remained on the scene. Patrol officers detained the person of interest and he was transported to BPD Headquarters for questioning. The victim and person of interest knew each other though the reason for the shooting has yet to be determined.
