BIRMINGHAM — Three males were shot in Birmingham just before midnight Wednesday and one of them has died, according Officer Truman Fitzgerald of the Birmingham Police Department.
Both males were transported to a local hospital with one suffering life-threatening injuries. Officers also determined a third adult male had been transported to Princeton Hospital by private vehicle. That victim was pronounced dead by hospital staff.
A Shot Spotter alert indicated the shooting had taken place in the 1600 Block of Fulton Avenue Southwest.
Fitzgerald said two groups of people exchanged gunfire at that location resulting in the three males being wounded.
“Detectives do not believe they were bystanders,” Fitzgerald said.
Investigators are working to determine the victims’ role in the shooting.
