BIRMINGHAM — Two men are dead and a woman was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening gunshot wounds after an early morning shooting on Friday, according to Birmingham Police Officer Truman Fitzgerald. The hail of bullets also struck an area business and multiple vehicles.
At about 1:12 a.m., a Birmingham patrol officer heard gunshots and made his way to the 700 block of 2nd Avenue North where citizens flagged him down and reported the shooting.
The officer found the two men and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot of a business. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel were summoned to the scene where they pronounced the male victims dead and rushed the female victim to UAB Hospital.
“We believe shots were fired in the parking lot and all three victims were struck by gunfire,” Fitzgerald said. “Several vehicles were struck by gunfire, a local business was struck by gunfire. We know there were a lot of people out here this morning.”
Fitzgerald urged anyone who saw or heard anything to contact police at 205-254-1764. If you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
