TRUSSVILLE – The Trussville Tribune covers 8 high schools (Hewitt Trussville, Clay Chalkville, Shades Valley, Center Point, Pinson Valley, Springville, Moody and Leeds). A very rich tradition of great sports, king of all of those being football. This coming weekend, these players will each play in one of two all-star games being held to showcase young men who are getting ready to enter college to play football at the next level.
Back in October, the Alabama North/South All-Star and Alabama/Mississippi All-Star teams were selected, and the Tribune was well represented on both rosters.
For the Alabama/Mississippi All-Star game, 6 Tribune players were selected. Clay Chalkville had 4 players selected and Hewitt Trussville and Leeds each had one:
Jaylen Mbakwe – ATH – Clay Chalkville Cougars
Donovan Price – TE/HB – Hewitt Trussville Huskies
JacQwan McRoy – OL – Clay Chalkville Cougars
Mario Craver – WR – Clay Chalkville Cougars
Kavion Henderson – DE/LB – Leeds Greenwave
JacQwan McRoy – OL – Clay Chalkville Cougars
This game will be played on December 16, 2023 at H.H. Roberts Stadium, home of the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles.
For the Alabama North/South All Star Game, which will be held on December 15, 2023, at Mobile’s Hancock Whitney Stadium, home of the South Alabama Jaguars, Hewitt Trussville led Tribune teams with three selections followed by Leeds with two selections while Clay Chalkville and Moody had one player each chosen, in addition to Moody’s Jake Ganus being selected to coach the defense for the North team.
A’mon Lane – DB – Moody Blue Devils
D’Angelo (DJ) Barber – DE/LB – Clay Chalkville Cougars
Tyrell Averett – DL – Hewitt Trussville Huskies
Chris Burge – DL – Leeds Greenwave
Nick Davis – DL – Leeds Greenwave
Micah Valdez – OL – Hewitt Trussville Huskies
Peyton Floyd – QB – Hewitt Trussville Huskies
Jake Ganus – Coach – Moody Blue Devils
Though there are many other players who could, and should, have been considered for these all-star teams, the Tribune area is rich with talent and having this many players from our area represent their schools (half of the schools in our area) is not small feat.
The Trussville Tribune sports team wishes each of these players and their coaches all the best in the all-star games and in their futures.
