PINSON — One man is dead following a mobile home fire in the 6700 block of Womack Road just outside the Pinson city limits, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Just before 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies along with personnel from both Palmerdale and Glennwood Fire Departments were dispatched to the 6700 block of Womack Road in Northeastern Jefferson County on reports of a house fire.
“Callers reported several explosions being heard. It was also reported that an elderly male may have been inside the home,” Lt. Joni Money of the JCSO said.
Upon arrival, personnel observed a mobile home completely engulfed in flames. Fire personnel were able to extinguish the flames.
“During the initial investigation, the body of one victim was located inside the home,” Money said.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office later identified the deceased as J.D. Green, 75, of Pinson.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office are working in conjunction with Jefferson County Sheriff’s detectives to complete the investigation.
Money said no foul play is suspected at this point in the investigation.
