BIRMINGHAM — A Birmingham man was shot and killed and a woman injured in the road on Wednesday, Nov. 15.
At around 10:40 a.m., Birmingham Police Department (BPD) West Precinct officers were dispatched to a person shot call in the 400 block of 5 Street Pratt.
Officers arrived on the scene when they observed the victim, Darryl Bowie, 56, of Fairfield, lying unresponsive in the roadway suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers observed an adult female on the sidewalk suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue (BFR) personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced Bowie deceased. BFR personnel transported the adult female victim to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation suggests both victims were in the 400 block of 5 Street Pratt when an unknown suspect(s) fired shots at them. The suspect(s) then fled the scene in a vehicle.
There is no one in custody.
