TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce has announced Grayson Pope as the Grand Marshal of the 2023 Christmas Parade on Tuesday, Nov. 21.
This past June, Pope was injured when a tree fell on him while golfing with friends. Pope recently returned from rehab.
Pope is a Hewitt-Trussville High School junior, a member of the HTHS baseball team, a Tennessee baseball commit, and a recent recipient of the SFC Melvin Morris Courage award.
“We’re thrilled to have Grayson serve as our Grand Marshal,” said Melissa Walker of the Trussville chamber. “He is a hometown inspiration to those who have followed his journey to recovery.”
The Honorary Grand Marshall is the 2023 State Softball Champions, the Hewitt-Trussville Softball team. This marks the third time in four state championship series that the softball team has been State Champion in 7A softball.
The 2023 Christmas Parade is scheduled for Dec. 9 at 3 p.m. This year’s parade theme is “The Sights and Sounds of Christmas.”
Float competition prizes will be awarded for Best Interpretation of the Theme, Most Original, Most Innovative, and Best Overall. A prize will also be awarded to the Best Walking Group, and several Honorable Mentions will be awarded/
The parade will line up on Cherokee Drive near Cahaba Elementary and proceed down Parkway Drive to Main Street, through Downtown Trussville to Chalkville Road and then North to Oak Street.
