TRUSSVILLE – The Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce hosted its fifth annual Community Caroling and Tree Lighting Ceremony on the historic Trussville Mall on Sunday, Nov. 26.
The free event kicked off with a performance from the Hewitt-Trussville High School Jazz Band and included over 30 booths with free giveaways and kids activities, as well as other musical entertainment throughout the night from local choirs and bands.
During the ceremony, children had the opportunity to take pictures with Santa and even enter a life-sized snowglobe. Artificial snow blew through the air and silver bells rang as Mayor Buddy Choat and the Trussville City Council lit the Christmas tree. City Councilor Alan Taylor served as Master of Ceremonies.
Sponsors for the event included:
- First Baptist Church of Trussville, presenting sponsor
- Foundations for Hope, stage sponsor
- Bryant Bank, snow globe sponsor
- Hitchcock Maddox Financial Partners, snow sponsor
- Trinity Contractors, Santa Stop sponsor
- Trussville Gas and Water, power and lighting sponsor

The community is invited by the Chamber to return to the Mall on Dec. 9 for the city’s annual Christmas Parade. The parade will begin on Parkway Drive at 3 p.m., turning right onto Gadsden Highway and right again onto Chalkville Mountain Road. The parade will end after it passes by the Christmas tree at the Mall. This year’s theme is “The Sights and Sounds of Christmas.”
A Christmas festival will be held at First Baptist Church of Trussville immediately following the parade.
