MOODY – The City of Moody invites the public to celebrate the Christmas season by coming out to the Moody Christmas Tree Lighting on Tuesday, Dec. 5, at 6 p.m., at the Moody Civic Center. There will be music, entertainment and a few special guests from the North Pole.
The Red Diamond “SweetRide” will be there to pass out free hot chocolate and coffee. Also, before the Christmas Tree Lighting, the Doris Stanley Memorial Library will host an open house at 4 p.m. Light refreshments will be served and children visiting are welcome to build a gingerbread house.
The Moody Christmas Parade will be Saturday, Dec. 9, at 5 p.m. This year’s parade theme will be: “No Place Like Gnome for the Holidays.”
Anyone who would like to participate in the parade can download an application at www.moodyalabama.gov or email a request to mfraser@moodyalabama.gov.
“The Moody Christmas Parade is a true Christmas tradition,” Moody executive assistant Melissa Fraser said. “So, bring your family and make some wonderful holiday memories.”
Anyone who believes their house is the brightest on the block, or any businesses that are “decked out” for the holidays are invited to enter the City of Moody’s “Deck the Halls” decorating contest.
Contest forms can be found at www.moodyalabama.gov or mfraser@moodyalabama.gov. Applications are due by Dec. 13, and winners are announced on Friday, Dec. 15.
“So, untangle those lights and trim the trees,” Fraser said. “We want to see the spirit of Christmas in Moody.”
