TRUSSVILLE – Trussville owned and operated Agnew Jewelers is celebrating its 50th year in business with a diamond earring giveaway on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023.
No purchase is necessary and customers don’t have to be present to win the two carat, total weight, lab-grown diamond stud earrings set in 14k gold.
“I think what makes us different is we’re not a chain store,” said owner Jimmy Agnew on the business that recently won “Best Jewelry Store” in The Tribune Reader’s Choice Awards. “We’re more of a custom store, more of a quality store. When you come into the store, you’re not talking to a salesperson; you’re talking to your jeweler.”
Agnew offers its customers designer jewelry from places like California and New York, as well as custom and family heirloom pieces.
“It’s not something you’re going to see a thousand times over,” he said. “It’s going to be more of a one-of-a-kind type of piece.”
Best of all, when special jewelry is brought into the store for repairs or adjustments, it doesn’t leave the store, as all work is done in-house.
“That sets a lot of people’s hearts at ease,” said Alisa Hutto, who has been with Agnew Jewelers for 44 years. “We all live here and we care about our community.”
Agnew Jewelers was founded in April 1973 by Jimmy’s parents, Jack and Sue Ann Agnew. The store started small in Center Point and eventually opened a second location in Vestavia. The Center Point branch moved to Trussville’s Kohl’s shopping center on Chalkville Mountain Road in 2004, where it stayed until 2015 when Agnew Jewelers opened its now only location on 311 Main Street in downtown Trussville, near the Entertainment District.
“We love where we are now,” Jimmy Agnew said, adding that Agnew Jewelers has been active in the rotary clubs and chambers of commerce in every community they’ve been in. “We appreciate the support from our community. It’s always been there for us, and our customers have been our friends for years.”
Agnew and Hutto both said that the store has had generations of loyal customers frequent their doors throughout the years.
“We have third and fourth generations,” Jimmy Agnew said.
From now through noon on Dec. 23, all customers 18-years or older who walk into Agnew Jewelers will have an opportunity to fill out an entry form for the two-carat diamond stud giveaway, so be sure to stop by Tribune’s Reader’s Choice winner, Agnew Jewelers, at 311 Main Street, suite 109, in Trussville to enter the drawing.
