MONTGOMERY – On Monday, December 18, 2023, the AHSAA revealed their 2024 re-classification of football teams. No big changes for Tribune coverage area teams, but here are the differences.
The Hewitt Trussville Huskies remain in 7A Region 3. Additions to the region were Hillcrest and Prattville with Oak Mountain and Chelsea as the only teams to be removed.
Despite rumors that they would be moving to 7A, the Clay Chalkville Cougars remain in 6A Region 6 along with fellow Tribune teams Pinson Valley and Shades Valley in the region often referred to as the “Region of Doom.” The AHSAA added Mountain Brook to the region while removing Center Point.
Class 5A has their own “Region of Doom” in Region 6 as mainstays Leeds, Lincoln, Moody, Springville and Saint Clair County stay put, but welcome in Jacksonville and another Tribune coverage team, the Center Point Eagles.
