JEFFERSON COUNTY — Lt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said one man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Saturday.
Just after 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, deputies were dispatched to the 200 block of Bessemer Super Highway to investigate a single vehicle accident, according to Money.
“According to witnesses, a black Nissan Armada passed another vehicle on the roadway, lost control and crashed,” Money said. “The driver of the Nissan was ejected from the vehicle.”
Bartholomew Dexter Jones, the 52-year-old male driver from Bessemer, was pronounced dead at the scene. Jones was identified by Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team was called to investigate the accident.
