JEFFERSON COUNTY — A Center Point woman died after being struck by a vehicle on Centerpoint Parkway on Tuesday night, according to Lt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Money said that around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, a Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy was flagged down near the intersection of 23rd Terrace NW and Centerpoint Parkway in East Jefferson County at the scene of a pedestrian who had been struck.
The victim has been identified as Krystal Renea Woods, 34, of Center Point, according to Jefferson County Chief Deputy Bill Yates.
“The deputy confirmed that a female pedestrian, wearing dark clothing had been struck by a vehicle,” Money said. “The pedestrian was taken to UAB Hospital where she later died from her injuries. The driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.”
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is currently on the scene and is conducting the investigation into the circumstances surrounding accident.
