BIRMINGHAM — The storm system that has dumped heavy rains on central Alabama and wreaked havoc with high winds may offer a little snow as a parting shot, according to the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
For the remainder of Tuesday, NWS said we can expect continued showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 1 p.m., then a slight chance of showers after 4 p.m. Temperatures will be falling to around 44 by 5 p.m. Breezy, with a southwest wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Tuesday night, look for a slight chance of rain showers, mixing with snow after 9 p.m., then gradually ending. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. Breezy, with a west wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
